The musicFIRST Coalition was founded in 2007 by a broad spectrum of organizations representing musicians, recording artists, managers, music businesses, and performance right advocates. Since then, we’ve expanded to include dozens of partner organizations and groups who support music creators. Today, we are a national coalition representing artists and record labels, from New York to Nashville, New Orleans to L.A.
The Coalition
Standing up for music creators
HOW musicFIRST IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
musicFIRST works to ensure music creators get fair pay for their work on all platforms and wherever and however it is played. We rally the people and organizations who make and love music to end the broken status quo that allows AM/FM to use any song ever recorded without paying its performers a dime. And to stand up for fair pay on digital radio — and whatever comes next.
Our partners are performer representatives including musicians and artist unions and trade associations, major record labels and independents of all sizes from across the country. Representing the diverse musical culture of the entire U.S., and the digital performance rights organization SoundExchange, the full spectrum of music creators stand together with musicFIRST to rally allies, supporters, and fans in support of fair pay for music creators.
