Statement on the election of Rep. Jerry Nadler as the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee

20 December 2017

Washington, D.C. (December 20, 2017) musicFIRST Executive Director Chris Israel issued the following statement today on Congressman Nadler’s election to the top Democratic post on the House Judiciary Committee:

“The musicFIRST Coalition congratulates Congressman Jerry Nadler on being elected as the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee and we look forward to continuing to work with him in this new leadership role.”

“Congressman Nadler has been a consistent and passionate champion of music creators. From playing a leading role as a sponsor of the Fair Play Fair Pay Act to working on behalf of American artists who have not been compensated fairly for work recorded before 1972, Congressman Nadler has been a steadfast supporter of music creators, working tirelessly on their behalf to make common-sense, bipartisan improvements to our nation’s outdated copyright laws.”
