Washington, D.C. – Today, the musicFIRST Coalition’s Executive Director Ted Kalo issued the following statement in response to Representative Marsha Blackburn’s introduction of the BOTS Act:
“Live music connects artists and their fans in a way that creates lifelong memories. Who can forget their first concert or their favorite show?
“Unfortunately, the unscrupulous practices of scalpers using bots to flood ticket buying websites allows these bad actors to break in line ahead of true fans – robbing those fans of any chance at the best seats and often shutting them out altogether.
“Representative Marsha Blackburn has been tireless in her support of music creators and fans, seeking to make positive change for everyone who values music. We are delighted that she has stepped in to make this anti-fan practice a violation of federal law and we strongly support the BOTS Act.”
