The Problem

Performing artists have been denied payment for AM/FM radio plays for over a century. Big radio makes $14 billion a year in advertising revenue while paying performers $0. There are hundreds of thousands of hard-working American musicians who would benefit from a share of big radio’s advertising profits.

The Solution

Thankfully, there is momentum to change the law. Members of Congress recently introduced the American Music Fairness Act, which would implement a performance royalty for AM/FM radio – like what already exists for digital services such as SiriusXM.
