MUSICIANS DESERVE THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE HOW THEIR WORK IS USED
You can’t always get what you want…unless of course you’re part of the Big Radio conglomerates that now own and/or operate most of America's radio stations.
Under our current laws, terrestrial AM/FM broadcasters can play a music creators’ work whenever they want. They don’t need to compensate the artists or even ask permission to use their work.
In February 2023, Representatives Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced the American Music Fairness Act. The American Music Fairness Act would close a loophole that has allowed terrestrial radio broadcasters to go nearly a century without paying performers for their work.
The American Music Fairness Act would require broadcasters to compensate artists just like every other music distribution platform while protecting small, local radio stations.
Tell Congress now is time to end this unfairness in our industry. Send a message your representatives today and urge them support the American Music Fairness Act.
