Trott & Roybal-Allard Join Chorus of Fair Play Fair Pay Act Supporters

08 November 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – musicFIRST Coalition Executive Director Chris Israel issued the following statement today on the addition of two more co-sponsors of the Fair Play Fair Pay Act (H.R. 1836):

“We applaud the newest cosponsors of the Fair Play Fair Pay Act, Republican Congressman David Trott from Michigan and Democratic Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard of California.

“This important, bipartisan bill would finally equalize the pay structure for music creators on every music platform. It would also bring long-overdue justice for artists who created recordings before 1972, and have been completely shut out of royalties for their songs, including many from Motown’s golden era.”
